William Henry Barnard was born 9 May 1817 in Sumner County, Tennessee and died 19 April 1887 in Linn County, Kansas. He married Martha Ruyle who was born 6 February 1822 in either Mississippi, Tennessee or Illinois. She died 8 December 1847 in Illinois during childbirth.
