Albert Barnett of Saratoga County, New York was probably born in August 1857 in the area of Germany formerly known as Prussia. He came to the United States between 1877 and 1882 and was naturalized as a US citizen about 1892.

A passenger record dated 11 September 1882 for the steamer Bohemia bound from Hamburg to New York was found for an Albert Barnett listing him as age 23, a turner, born Baden Prussia. A passenger on the same ship listed next to Albert was Hermann Barnett age 26, a carpenter born  Baden, Prussia. It is not known if the record is for the correct Albert. The 1900 census indicates Albert came to the US in 1882 and had been in the country 18 years. The 1920 and 1930 census both say he came to the United States in 1877

About 1884 Albert married at age 27 Bertha Mangle probably in Saratoga County New York. They had a farm in the Charlton area where they raised their children and lived the remainder of their life.

According to the 1900 census Bertha was born in May 1857 in Germany. She was probably born in the area of Germany formerly called Prussia, and died sometime between the taking of the 1910 and 1920 census. Albert was still alive in 1930 when he was enumerated as being age 72 and still a widow. It is not known when he died.

Albert and Bertha, Bert, as she was called, had the following children who were all born in New York, likely Saratoga County:

Moshe Bandrymer survived the Holocaust, Lived Poland, Russia, Isreal

Moshe Bandrymer survived the Holocaust by taking his family to Russia. He returned to Poland and evenutally emmigrated to Israel.

His grandson, Moshe Bandrimer(current spelling) lives there with his family and other relatives.

He has a cousin living in Canada, Meir Bandrimer.

Jef (Bandrymer) Barnett’s father had the name of Moshe Bandrymer living in Poland after the war and it is believed to be the current Moshe’s grandfather. DNA tests (37) however do not show a common ancestor with the last serverl hundred years.

Moshe’s grandmother was part of the Globinsky family (Jef’s family have Globinky relations still) and that may be the connection with the family.

William Barnett of Headley, Hampshire England was baptised in Fresham Parish just over the border in Surrey 5 March 1820, the son of John Barnett and Catherine Sandhurst. He married in Headley, Hampshire on 7 June 1845 to Jane Warren daughter of John Warren.

Iin 1848 the William and Jane travelled to Australia on the “Emperor” with their two sons John, 1 year old, and William 2. Once in Australia they continued having children, eleven in all.

The children of William and Jane were:

1. William Henry Barnett. Born 5 August 1845, (baptised 31 August, registered 14 September) in Headley. They were residents, it seems, of Barford, the part of Headley where Jane’s family was resident. Died 2 August 1927 in Gumma Hill, Macksville, Australia (just to the north of the Macleay River). Was buried in Frederickton. m. Jane Hibbard 8 September 1868 in Gladstone.

2. John Barnett. Born about 1847 in England. Died 5 July 1918 and buried in Frederickton on the Macleay River in Australia.

3. Jane Barnett. b. 3 May 1851, Austral Eden, d. 5 May 1915, Sydney. m. John Hibbard in 1871.

4. Emma Barnett. b. 22 October 1852 in Austral Eden, along the Macleay River, Australia; d. 27 December 1931 in South West Rocks (near the mouth of the Macleay river).

They were slaves on the Point of Fork plantation until being freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. The slaveowner’s name was James Galt. The plantation was located in Fork Union Township in Fluvanna County, Virginia.

Grandfather Powell B. Barnett. 1854-1939. Wife, Mary Sample. Married 8/14/1880. 3 Children, (my father, Powell S. Barnett) (1883-1971), Benjamin, (1885-?), William, (1887-?) Benjamin never married. William had several children including Stancholl, Howard, Neal, and Adeline all of whom are deceased.

Grandfather Powell was born on the Point of Fork plantation in Fork Union Township, Fluvanna County in Virginia.

The slave-owners name was James Galt. Upon being freed as a slave, He worked as a coal miner in Braidwood, Ogle County, Illinois, and Brazil, Clay County, Indiana.

He married the former Mary Sample on 8/14/1880. He, along with hundreds of others was recruited to work in the coal mines of Roslyn, Kittitas County Washington, arriving in 1888 where he lived until his death in 1939. His wife, Mary died shortly after their arrival in Washington State.

My father Powell S. Barnett 1883-1971 Spouse Katherine Conna (1890-1971) Married 1906. 8 Children: Powell 1907-1979,Carmen 1912-1984, Eugene 1916-1980, John 1919-?) Kenneth 1924-?) It is suspected Samuel Barnett born 1784 Mercer County, KY may have been the father of David. More work is being done.

David Barnett was born 3 March 1804 in Kentucky, and died 8 January 1877 in Johnson County, MO..  He married Nancy Catherine Conner 18 February1830 Howard County, MO.  She was born 13 April 1810 in Kentucky and died June 6, 1899.

CENSUS: David is on the 1830 Federal Census for Howard County, MO with wife.  There are no other members of the household. Between 20 and 30 years old

CENSUS: David is listed as head of household in 1840 federal census for Goshen, Macon County, MO.  Nearby are Samuel Barnett (between 50-60 years) and John Barnett (between 30 and 40 years) with their families as well.
